Emergency Medical Service Unit Programs

  • Alaska Council on Emergency Medical Services (ACEMS)
    The Governor's Alaska Council on Emergency Medical Services, also known as "ACEMS," provides the Commissioner of the Department of Health and Social Services and the Governor with recommendations related to all aspects of EMS, including distribution of funding, and policy development.
  • Comfort One
    The statewide do not resuscitate (DNR) protocol for physicians and other health care providers that sets out a standardized procedure for the withholding of cardiopulmonary resuscitation for patients that choose to participate in the DNR program.
  • Code Blue
    This program was started in 1999 in an effort to identify, prioritize and seek funding for essential equipment for rural EMS in Alaska.
  • EMS Awards
    Each year, the Governor's Alaska Council on Emergency Medical Services recognizes accomplishments in the field of Emergency Medical Services.
  • EMS Data Collection
    IPEMS is working with EMS agencies across Alaska to develop a state-wide data collection system.
  • EMS for Children (EMSC)|
    The Alaska EMSC program is designed to enhance the pediatric capabilities of the current system originally designed for adults.
  • EMS Symposia
    The Alaska EMS Symposium will be held November 12 - 14, 2009 in Anchorage, AK.
  • Hepatitis B Vaccination Program
    A program for acquiring hepatitis B vaccine for volunteer EMS organizations.
  • Rural AED Grants
    The Section of Injury Prevention and EMS (IPEMS) has received $95,095 from the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration for the Rural Access to Emergency Devices program (RAED). The grant period is September 1, 2008 – August 31, 2009.  IPEMS will be accepting applications for the distribution of AEDs until November 15, 2008.
  • Trauma Emergency Medical Services System in Alaska
    This program is designed to help build and maintain a trauma care system in Alaska.
